Gleneagles Country Club is proud to announce that our Director of Golf, Joe DeMino, has been awarded the 2018 PGA Professional of the Year for the Southeast Chapter of the PGA. This chapter consists of 840 PGA Professionals covering a geographic area from Vero Beach to Deerfield Beach. Professional of the Year is the highest honor a PGA Golf Professional can receive, and recognizes overall performance, level of service to the Association, leadership, image and the ability to inspire fellow professionals and promote the game of golf.
Joe DeMino has been a PGA member since 1992 and has experienced much success in local and national tournaments. He has been the Director of Golf at Gleneagles Country Club since July 2010. Originally from Rochester, New York, he owned and operated a club there for 20 years. He has qualified for 3 national PGA Championship’s, has made 11 hole-in-one’s and he holds 5 course records. He relocated to South Florida in 1999 where he was the Head Professional at the Country Club course at the Boca Raton Resort & Club from 2001 to 2010.
Joe’s love of golf is inherited and started at a very young age. He is a second-generation PGA member who learned the game of golf from his father, a PGA member for more than 50 years. He grew up playing golf with his father, three sisters, and three brothers. All of his siblings are talented amateur golfers and one is a teaching professional. It is no surprise that family is the reason behind his dedication and success as a golf professional.
“Family is everything to me, and I mean both the family at home, including my wife Karen and children Weston and Katlyn, and the family that I have at Gleneagles. My staff has become like family to me – they know that I will always support them as they reach for their goals. The Gleneagles members have embraced me and welcomed me into their club, their home away from home. This is the reason that I tackle every day with a positive attitude, promote the game of golf and ensure everyone around me is happy and smiling,” says Joe DeMino.
Joe DeMino exemplifies all of the qualities that one would hope to find in a golf professional, and he is dedicated to improving not only the game of golf but also his community by training future golf professionals, performing charity work and community service, playing the game at a high level, and exhibiting professionalism at all times in his role as Director of Golf at Gleneagles Country Club.
“Joe exhibits an unrivaled passion for the game of golf that he shares with the membership and staff at Gleneagles Country Club. Joe is the embodiment of a golf professional, and we could not be more thrilled that he received the PGA Professional of the Year honor. It has truly been my pleasure to work alongside Joe DeMino for the past nine years at Gleneagles, as well as for three years at the Boca Raton Resort & Club earlier in our career,” said Kraig M. Spina, General Manager and COO, Gleneagles Country Club.
“We are incredibly proud that our Director of Golf, Joe DeMino, is no longer the best kept secret in South Florida. Joe has done a tremendous job not only in running the daily golf operation at the club, but in elevating the reputation and caliber of the Gleneagles golf program to new levels,” remarks Steve Wolk, Club President, Gleneagles Board of Governors.
